NEWS: 'Real Farm' publisher announces Potato Pack DLC, featuring new vehicles, map and, of course, potatoes

For those gamers who yearn for a laid-back, relaxing country life, the game Real Farm allows players to manage a virtual farm (does that make the name ‘Real Farm’ a misnomer?) on the Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4, as well as drive numerous farm-themed vehicles around maps getting a sense of the local flavour of the town. Those gamers will be excited to know that SODESCO has announced two packs of DLC for the game to be launched on 2nd March 2018: The Potato Pack and the Grünes Tal map. Both packs will also be available to owners of the game free of charge.

The release of potatoes for any game is an improvement, so for fans of virtual farm-life sims, the opportunity to grow the world-famous root-vegetable will prove to be compelling. The potato is a well-known staple food in many countries, perhaps most famous for its application in boiling, mashing and sticking in a stew.

On a more serious note, however, the DLC will be exclusively shown at the PC Gamer Weekender 2018, an event run by the titular gaming website where enthusiasts gather to revel in all things PC gaming-related. The event takes place in London on the 17th and 18th of February.

The Potato Pack will remain free permanently. However, the Grünes Tal map, which appears to be based on a quaint rural European village, will be available freely only to current owners on Steam for $9.99, and will be free to download for 7 days on PS4 and XB1 for free before becoming a paid DLC. The trailer for the packs, shown below shows off a lush, colourful looking rural area, while offering the world-famous potato the kind of recognition such a vegetable deserves. Also shown is the ability to drive various vehicles and explore Grünes Tal in its entirety. The game certainly looks interesting and compelling as far as farming simulators go, and honestly, who can resist the opportunity to make a news article about the release of virtual potatoes?
